As a Northern Virginia photographer specializing in Senior portraits, I often get asked when is the best time to book. There are a few things to consider before reaching out to photographers and booking so let’s take a look.
First, decide if you want Fall or Spring vibes for your portraits. For lovely Fall leaves I would book your session mid-October to mid-November. For Spring I would book your session in the end of April to mid-June. There are so many lovely locations around Northern Virginia that are great for Fall leaves or Spring flowers.
As with any session, you will want to reach out earlier to get the date that best works for you. Choose a date that works well for your Senior and isn’t filled with other commitments that day.
Schools in our area tend to have graduation at the end of May or early June. I suggest thinking about when you want to send out announcements and planning back from there. I deliver my gallery within 2 weeks of your session date. You will also want to account for production and shipping time for all your printed photos. If you’re mailing announcements then include time for those to go out as well.
When researching photographers in Northern Virginia make sure the tone and personality on their website makes you feel confident. Does your Senior like their editing style and the photographer’s vibes? Remember that the photographer you would prefer may not be who your Senior prefers. Their comfort in front of the camera is paramount and starts with picking a photographer who they feel like matches their personality and will help make them feel confident.
If you’re done shopping and are you ready to book with me, then let’s do it!
